IRCTC Payment Gateway Failure Rates – 2008-2011
In our previous post on IRCTC, we provided you with an insight into the usage trends of the payment gateways on IRCTC. Following a request from one of our readers, we now have for you a visualization of the trend of failure rates in each payment segment from 2008 to Feb 2011:
Some key highlights from the chart above tell us that;
- Netbanking payment gateway has always had a higher failure rate than any other, on an average
- From a good 17% failure rate in Q2 of 2010, the Cash Card booking failures nearly doubled by the end of Q4 2010
- Credit and Debit Cards have show a relatively less failure rate when compared to Netbanking, except for Q3 2009, where it was 4% higher than Netbanking.
- ICICI, HDFC and SBI are the biggest culprits when it comes to payment gateway failures with 44% peak failure rate in Q1 2009 via NetBanking and 41% failure rate via Credit and Debit Card Booking
